The Sand Key area of Clearwater lies just south of Clearwater Beach, across the bridge over Clearwater Pass. 
Gulf Boulevard runs down the middle of Sand Key, which is a barrier island on the West Coast of Florida.
Less than a mile wide, the Western side of Gulf Blvd has sandy white beaches and a row of high rise condominiums. The Eastern side of Sand Key fronts on the Intracoastal Waterway. Condo's, townhouses, and single family homes line the East side of Gulf Blvd. most with boat docking facilities.

Commercial activity is focused on the North end of Sand Key. Two resort hotels and the Shoppes on Sand Key provide a variety of restaurants, shopping, banking, and resident and tourist services.
Sand Key County Park and the Clearwater Sailing Center attract many visitors and locals. A US Coast Guard station is located on Sand Key. And tennis courts and children's gym toys are available at the city Bayside Park
